ROSH HASHANA MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Dear Members and Friends,

This Rosh Hashana marks just over 12 months since Rabbi and Rebbitzen Belfer came to our Shul setting the final stage of Surfers Central Synagogue as an alternative Orthodox Congregation on the Gold I well remember the excitement of heralding our first Rabbi and the beautiful service which he rendered and I still wonder how fortunate we as a Congregation have been to have such a gentleman whose g In spite of ill health Rebbitzen Belfer has continually entertained members and interstate visitors including assisting with accommodation and has supported the Rabbi in his many Shiurim at Gibraltar It is so easy to take everything for granted and in the Belfers’ home that is easy to do because they quietly go about their duties with the interest of our Shul at heart.

These coming High Holidays both Rabbi Edward Belfer and Rabbi Chaim Ingram will conduct services, inspiring and uplifting our prayers, as they did last Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.
Our Shul this year will be filled to capacity with members, friends and interstate visitors who have heard of our growing reputation in our services and we are delighted that so many wish to join us d
It is said in the Rosh Hashana mussaf service :

“To-day is the birthday of the world; to-day G-d will sit in judgement over all the world‘s creations.”
“Rosh Hashana is a day on which each person individually, and the nations of the world collectively, are judged by an omniscient, omnipotent G-d.
On Rosh Hashanah we commemorate G-d’s creation of the world. He alone created; He alone commands the earth below and the sky above. Rosh Hashana is the annual coronation of the King of Kings, a c
On behalf of the Board of Management, I wish you and your family the traditional greeting that you may all be written in the Book of Life this coming New Year and may it be a Sweet Healthy and Joyo

What then, is the Jewish attitude to these problems?
Are we obligated to assist in bringing relief to all these distressed people? Our record speaks for itself. Time after time, Israel is the first country to offer and send materiel, medical The Chafetz Chaim zt”l wrote in his sefer Ahavat Chessed,
Our wealth really belongs to G-d. When we give tzedakah, our principal reward comes from our willingness to give it”.
The Torah commands us to give one tenth of our capital and net income. Whatever we give must be given with a good and cheerful heart, with empathy and consoling words. Our aim should be to preserve If we follow the principle of “FAMILY FIRST” in dispensing tzedakah then we must be cognizant of the significant number of our Jewish families in Israel also who live below the poverty line. Whatever support we can give and, however much or little it may be, let us give with an open hand and an open heart. Let us give it where it will do the most good but, above all, let us do it with lo Giving tzedakah in memory of departed parents, enables our parents to continue their good influence even after their death, and this also benefits them in the spiritual world.

There has been much controversy about the extent of his collaboration with the Israeli agents in the capture of Eichmann.

Although often accused of exaggerating his role in Eichmann’s capture, Wiesenthal did not claim sole responsibility, only saying that he knew by 1954 where Eichmann was.

Eichmann’s capture “was a teamwork of many who did not know each other,” Wiesenthal told AP in 1972. “I do not know if and to what extent reports I sent to Israel were used.”< Less controversial was his role in finding Austrian policeman Karl Silberbauer, who he believed arrested the Dutch teenager Anne Frank and sent her to the Bergen Belsen concentration camp where she di
